刘成林 ，1970年08月12日生，四川省资阳市人，中国共产党党员，副研究员。中国工学博士。研究领域: 模式识别、机器学习、神经网络、图像处理、文字识别、文档分析、文本分类。现任中国科学院自动化研究所副所长[1],兼任湖南工业大学人工智能学院院长。

学术成就研究方向为模式识别、图像处理、机器学习及在文字识别中的应用。主要研究成果包括:在手写字符识别的图像归一化、特征提取、分类器设计、手写字符串的切分与识别等方面提出一系列有效的方法;研制的文字识别算法在日本的邮政分拣机、表格处理系统等产品中获得成功的应用，尤其是用于邮政分拣的日文手写地址识别系统是该领域第一个成功的应用。在国际期刊和国际会议上发表论文90余篇，其中包括国际期刊(IEEE Trans. on PAMI, Pattern Recognition等)第一作者论文19篇。合著文字识别方面的英文专著一本。
获得奖励2005年在国际模式识别协会主办的国际文档分析与识别会议上获得IAPR/ICDAR Young Investigator Award (青年科学家奖)。2008年获得国家杰出青年科学基金。
